Alyssa Barber is a visual artist located in Dallas, Texas. She earned her BFA in Painting and Drawing from the University of North Texas in 2016, and is currently working as a Visual Arts Director at the Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy. Her work has been shown and published locally around the Dallas Fort Worth area. 

artist statement

In my work, the figure is a symbol of futility and beauty that can be as sensual as it is amusing or frustrating. My paintings include parts of my own body or my loved ones. I paint them with empathy, desire, and admiration. I paint them out of fear, I paint them looking for truth in contradictions, I paint them to feel connection. Violence is intimate, beauty is withholding, and humor emerges in the most chaotic and tragic moments.
